Words from the breath
Thu 13 June @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm BST
Stop where you are. Take a deep breath. Whilst most can do this with relative ease, the experience of breathlessness is a symptom some must manage on a daily basis. These are the people who are at risk of becoming invisible to society.
Read over afternoon tea, Durham & Derwentside Breathe Easy support group will showcase their poetry, created with Catch Your Breath Writer-in-Residence Christy Ducker, to express their lived experience of breathlessness. Christy will read her work inspired by the Catch Your Breath exhibition, as well as her interactions with aware breathers and those experiencing breathlessness. Christy and filmmaker Kate Sweeney will also present two short films on which they’ve collaborated, focusing on the politics of breathlessness.
This event is part of the programme for Durham Festival of the Arts and Wellbeing and Creativity Week.
