THE BREATH IN SONG AND POETRY
How do poets and composers think about breath? The pause in a line or the length of the note impacts greatly on how an audience hears, connects with and interprets a work. Join novelist, poet and librettist Michael Symmons Roberts and composer Sally Beamish, whose composition Epilogue starts with the idea of quiet breathing, as they explore breath as punctuation and instrument. Chaired by Prof David Fuller, Durham University.
Part of the Edinburgh International Book Festival’s Taking the Air series.
