Sensations and Symptoms Conference Panel
Wed 5 July 2017 @ 10:00 am - Fri 7 July 2017 @ 6:00 pm BST
5-7 July 2017, Portugal
Life of Breath PhD student Fredrik Nyman and Durham anthropologist Christina Dobson are coordinating a panel at the EASA Medical Anthropology Biannual Conference Network Meeting: Bodies in Transition — Power, Knowledge and Medical Anthropology
The panel, entitled ‘Sensations and Symptoms: embodied experiences and responses to illness’, will consider how transitions from ‘sensation’ to ‘symptom’, ‘normal’ to ‘abnormal’ and ‘person’ to ‘patient’ are shaped by the knowledge and power of the lay person, the practitioner, the policy maker and society.
Fredrik and Christina are currently inviting abstracts for the panel. Read full details of the call here.
If you would like to be considered please send your abstract to Christina Dobson (c.m.dobson@durham.ac.uk) by 1st April 2017. Paper proposals will be considered by the panel coordinators and accepted papers will be announced on 15th April 2017.
Paper proposals should be in English and should contain paper title, short abstract (max. 50 words), long abstract (max 300 words), name and email of paper proponent and institutional affiliation.
