Night of Breath

Sat 19 November 2016 @ 7:00 pm - 10:00 pm GMT

Free

19 Nov 2016, Bristol

An evening exploring the breath made visible through music and dance which will include the premiere of ‘Under the Surface’ and a performance of ‘Breath Catalogue’ followed by a conversation between the artists and their Life of Breath research collaborators, Havi Carel and James Dodd.

Under the Surface is a new, specially commissioned, choral work from composer Toby Young which explores the experience and isolation of people affected by breathlessness. It will be conducted by Stephen Rice and performed by Bristol University Singers with soloists from the internationally acclaimed Brabant Ensemble.

Breath Catalogue, choreographed and performed by Kate Elswitt and Megan Nicely, is a collaborative dance theatre work which combines movement with medical technology. During the performance sensors will capture and convey the dancers’ breath to make it perceptible to the spectator.

Tickets are free but must be booked in advance.
