Café Scientifique – Hidden in Plain Sight: Why breathlessness is invisible

Tue 19 November @ 5:30 pm - 8:00 pm GMT

Come and explore the many ways breath is invisible, in society and politically. Prof Jane MacNaughton, Director of the Institute for Medical Humanities, Durham University, will explore the ways in which the breath is unseen, especially for those with conditions that affect their breath, such as asthma, bronchitis and heart failure. Be prepared to experiment with your breath! This talk will draw upon the interdisciplinary work of Jane’s Wellcome-funded Life of Breath project.

This public event is part of PEALS’ 20th anniversary celebrations. All welcome, no need to book, just turn up. The night will include a welcome drink and a chance to look around the PEALS 20 exhibition.

Café Culture North East welcomes you to caféstyle thoughtful public discussions on culture, politics, philosophy and science No prior knowledge needed, just a like-minded desire for convivial and lively banter in an inclusive, welcoming setting. Events are free. There is a collection at the event.
