Breathing in Science Fiction

Wed 7 September 2016 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm

7 Sep 2016, Durham

As part of the Late Summer Lecture Series, Durham team member Arthur Rose will discuss breath as a theme, metaphor and plot device in Science Fiction. Whether used to convey a sense of anticipation, otherness, or even signify life itself, breath is a common motif in artistic media. Drawing on sci-fi favourites, that range from Fahrenheit 451 to Darth Vader, this multimedia presentation explores the various ways in which writers and directors employ and convey the breath.
