Catch Your Breath Writer-in-Residence Opportunity

We are looking for a creative writer to engage with Catch Your Breath, a new temporary exhibition at Palace Green Library, Durham, and with support groups for people with respiratory illness. The writer will work with the support groups and exhibition visitors to help them creatively express their experiences. The writer will also produce some of their own work inspired by the exhibition and their interactions. We are open about what form the creative writing might take, e.g. poetry, fiction, play script, short stories, etc. depending on the expertise and interests of the writer appointed.

The fee offered is £3000, notionally for 12 days work, during and after the exhibition run (24 November 2018 – 17 March 2019). This will include 4 workshops (approx. 1h each) with support groups and at least 5 days in situ in the exhibition. Additional funding is available to cover reasonable travel expenses within North East England and for a final celebration event. Likely support groups have already been identified and Durham University staff will help with arrangements for the workshops, event and evaluation.
